Dr. Brian Golding

What is the overall goal of your research program?

Our goal is to try to understand molecular evolution better. To do this we make use of computers and mathematical models applied to massive amounts of data generated by modern sequence facilities.

What would be one of your biggest research highlights?

That would be too difficult to pick. All of my papers have been hard work but many of them have shown weird or cool phenomena that are the molecular results of evolution.

How can we find out more information about the research you do?

My website is one place to start (http://helix.mcmaster.ca), or, of course, Google Scholar or to get a flavour of the data that we work on the US National Center for Biotechnology Information (http://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov).

What are your main interests outside of research?

I enjoy walks in the conservation areas that surround Dundas.
