Biology Graduate Studies

The Biology Department offers graduate programs leading to M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees. There are over thirty faculty research labs for graduate student participation in a broad range of research areas. The average program length is 2 to 3 years for a M.Sc. and 4 to 5 years for a Ph.D. There are approximately 100 M.Sc. and Ph.D. students currently in the program.
Our graduate programs teach the research and communication skills required for successful careers as independent scientists. Graduates go on to careers in universities, research institutions, or the biotechnology industry, and a growing number choose areas such as consulting, science writing, technology transfer, and patent law.
